Organisers of GOtv Boxing Night, Flykite Promotions, have concluded arrangements to provide free viewing of the Nigeria Premier League (NPL) title decider between Rangers of Enugu and El-Kanemi Warriors of Maiduguri on Sunday.

The match will be beamed live by SuperSport and shown on giant LED screen mounted at the Indoor Sports Hall of the National Stadium, Lagos, venue of GOtv Boxing Night 9.

Rangers top the league table by 67 points, with a goal difference of plus 12, and require just one point to clinch their first league title.

Next to them are Rivers United on 57 points, with a plus eight goal difference, leaving them with a mathematical chance of nicking the title if they beat Akwa United by three goals and Rangers lose by two goals to El-Kanemi.  It is also possible if they beat Akwa United by five goals and Rangers lose without scoring.

Explaining why free football viewing is being provided, Flykite Promotions Managing Director, Jenkins Alumona, said that football is being added to give fans more excitement in commemoration of the country’s Independence and the fifth anniversary of GOtv operations in Nigeria.

“Football and boxing are the country’s biggest sports. We also have two very big occasions to celebrate in the shape of the country’s Independence and the sponsors’ fifth anniversary. The fans deserve this double portion for the support they have been giving to boxing,” Alumona explained.

GOtv Boxing Night 9 will feature seven bouts, including two international challenge bouts in the light welterweight and lightweight divisions.  Olaide “Fijaborn” Fijabi, national light welterweight champion, will be fighting Ghana’s Raphael Kwabena King, while Oto “Joe Boy” Joseph will take on Richard “Desert Warrior” Amefu, also from Ghana.
