Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom

Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom has pledged greater partnership between his administration and David Mark Golf Club to deepen youth participation in the game of golf.

Speaking on Sunday at the tee-off ceremony of the Otukpo National Female Golf Championship, organized by wife of the former Senate President, Mrs. Helen Mark, Ortom said with such a facility in the state, government would collaborate with the organisers to ensure that young people were trained to global standards.

In her remarks, Mrs. Helen Mark said the competition, which was in its third edition, had female representatives from all golf courses across the country.

She said the competition was meant to create fun and to unite players across states of the federation, while acknowledging the support of Governor Ortom and his wife, Dr. Eunice Ortom, who also took part in the opening ceremony, as well as the Deputy Governor, Engr. Benson Abounu and his wife, Justice Mary Abouno.

Senator David Mark, who had earlier received the Governor at the event, thanked him for identifying with the project.

Governor Ortom, who undertook a tour of the golf course in company of the former Senate President, performed the ceremonial tee-off.
