TOMORROW’S tee-off of the maiden Corporate Golf Challenge, which is at the behest of Concierge Sports, promises to be an exciting and fun-filled affair as management of the sponsoring outfit say approximately 100 players have appended their signatures thereby committing themselves to the tourney.

Slated to take place at the Lakowe Lakes Golf & Country Estate, in the Lekki/Ajah axis of Lagos State, the event will parade tested amateur players drawn from corporate Nigeria and beyond.

According to an executive of Concierge Sports, Kayode Oguntayo, his company aims to use the event to strengthen the ties the game of golf has with corporate Nigeria, and “We have quite a number of interests among the local golf fraternity.”

According to Oguntayo, “We have 20 teams duly confirmed for the one day event now; we are expecting more teams to confirm participation before entry closes.

“Lakowe Lakes Golf Club is the newest addition to the Lagos golf scene and based on its championship course design, it’s one of the most challenging golf facilities in the country.

“With the support of Veuve Clicquot Champagne, as a headline sponsor and hospitality host, the event is essentially created as a platform for the corporate world to latch on to and tap into the huge potentials that the game of golf and its immediate community presents,” he stated.

As part of its corporate social responsibility, Concierge Sports will at the event, facilitate monetary donations to some charitable groups, which are involved in certain humanitarian causes. They include: Benola Cerebral Palsy Initiative, Down Syndrome Foundation Nigeria, Golden Hearts among others.

The event according to organisers is a team event; where four players representing a corporate organisation would be hoping to outscore other teams with same representation.

The challenge is scheduled to tee-off at 8:30 am. Some companies that have entered teams at the event include First Bank, Old Mutual, Total E&P Deepwater, Stanbic IBTC, Mandilas, Tata, and Huawei among others.

The event would be rounded off with an award gala/luncheon where the participants would be entertained and presentations made at the club house.
