Plateau United, EL Kanemi maintain lead, Remo Stars beat ABS 3-0

Plateau United and El Kanemi Warriors yesterday continued their cozy ride on top of the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) table with 2-0 victories over Kano Pillars and Niger Tornadoes respectively.

Plateau United and El Kanemi Warriors yesterday continued their cozy ride on top of the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) table with 2-0 victories over Kano Pillars and Niger Tornadoes respectively.

Playing at the Rwang Pam Stadium, Jos, Plateau United scored a goal in each half through Ibeh Johnson (15th minute) and Elisha Golbe in the 55th-minute to hold onto the top of the table. It was Pillars first defeat in six games, just as it marked Plateau United’s sixth home win at the stadium.

El Kanemi Warriors, who have surprised pundits with their title challenge this season, made it 20 wins at home to keep pace with Plateau United.
Samuel Mathias opened scores for the Ladan Bosso side in the 35h minute, while Ibrahim Babangida secured the win the 56th-minute.

Remo Stars got their first win under Coach Fatai Osho yesterday when they outclassed ABS 3-0 at the Sagamu Stadium.Remo Stars got their goals through Ekene Awazie (7th minute), Salefu Ochowechi (61st minute) and Saheed Lasisi in the 87th-minute.

Yesterday’s result takes Remo off the bottom of the log momentarily as Wikki Tourists were not in action following Enugu Rangers’ continental assignments.

Elsewhere, Shooting Stars of Ibadan snatched a late goal to hold hosts Gombe to a 1-1 draw, Akwa United beat visiting Sunshine Stars 3-2, IfeanyiUbah lost 2-0 away to Nasarawa United, while Abia Warriors edged Lobi Stars 2-1.
