Enugu Rangers goalkeeper, Nana Bonsu, has been speaking on the possibilities of the club winning their very first league title after 32 years of failed campaigns to reclaim glory in the league.

In a chat with npfl.ng, shortly after his side’s 4-0 bashing of title chasing rivals, Rivers United at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu on Sunday, the Ghanaian boasted that the league title was within reach, despite having few games to wrap up the season.

The goalkeeper, who has been in fine form all season, said Rangers are determined to win the remaining matches of the season, irrespective of the opposition on a given match day.

“I am confident we will not lose any game again this season. We are winning the title and there is no doubt about that. As you can see, we played today as a team, there was no pressure whatsoever from anywhere. At the moment, we are very much focused,” an elated Bonsu told npfl.ng.

Asked if they (Rangers) were distracted or scared of Rivers United following the pre-match hype, Bonsu dismissed the suggestion, while relishing what was seen a breathtaking performance by the home side.

“I told my team-mates the match was going to be an easier one compared to the game against MFM. We had fun on the pitch. Rivers United is a good team, they defeated us in the first leg in Port Harcourt, but today we have just sent a strong message to other title contenders,” he added.

The Flying Antelopes did a short work of Rivers United courtesy of goals from Tope Olusesi, Godwin Aguda, Christian Madu and Obinna Nwobodo, but will face an uphill task on match day 35 when they travel to Ibadan to face struggling Shooting Stars.

Despite being a point better than Rivers United on the log, the Enugu side will have to overcome the challenge of Shooting Stars, Sunshine Stars, Ikorodu United and El-Kanemi Warriors, to have a chance of laying their hands on the title for the first time in more than three decades.
