Super Eagles’ Technical Adviser Gernot Rohr has called two players from the just-ended Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) to replace two foreign-based players.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), in a statement Monday by Ademola Olajire, its Director of Communications, said the new call-ups were a swift reaction to the players’ withdrawal.

It said letters from English Premiership clubs Chelsea and Watford had indicated that forwards Victor Moses and Isaac Success were injured and therefore unavailable.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that both players were earlier called up for the Super Eagles’ crunch encounter with Zambia in Ndola on Sunday.

Chelsea’s Moses and Watford’s former junior international Success had been called up as part of Nigeria’s squad for the match.

The match is a 2018 FIFA World Cup Qualifying Matchday Day 1 tie against the Chipolopolo.

But the NFF received letters over the weekend saying Moses has hamstring trouble and that Success has a knock and was finding it difficult to walk.

Rohr has now called up NPFL stars Godwin Obaje and Chisom Egbuchulam to take the places of the two injured players.

Obaje, who is of Wikki Tourists FC of Bauchi, finished the just-ended season as top scorer with 18 goals.

Rangers’ forward Egbuchulam finished just behind Obaje with 15 goals, including a hat-trick as the Flying Antelopes won 4-0 at home against El-Kanemi Warriors on Sunday.
