Rufai, Ikpeba thrill fans at WJS Legend edition
Former Super Eagles’ stars, Peter Rufai and Victor Ikpeba, as well as other retired professional footballers lit up the Campos Mini Stadium, Onikan, Lagos, where they took on a team of celebrities in a novelty game organized as part of the Winihin Jemide Series Legend edition, which also featured musical performances by notable artistes.
The event held on September 22 and 23 at the compact stadium, also featured a football clinic for youths drawn from across the state, with Rufai, Ikpeba and other retired footballers as resource persons.
At the clinic, the participants were taken through various skill development routines before they were allocated team slots for the Legend youth tournament.
At the end of the matches, Springcoca FC and RCCG Province 4 emerged tops in the under 15 and the 17 categories respectively.
But the climax of the event was exciting the novelty match that featured former Super Eagles stars, including Peter Rufai, Victor Ikpeba, Victor Agali, Waidi Akanni, Jonathan Akpoborie, Godwin Okpara against entertainment celebrities, Timi, Dakolo, AY the comedian, Akpororo, Gideon Okeke, Sexy Steel and others.
The event ended on Saturday with a celebration dinner with sponsors, guests and outstanding players from the Legend Youth Tournament at the prestigious Sky Lounge Restaurant, Eko Hotel, Lagos.
The dinner, hosted by Chigulrl, also featured a musical performance by Chee Okebalama.
