The Tennis Section of the Ikoyi Club 1938 came alive at the weekend when the SNEPCO/NNPC Tennis Championship served off with 80 players competing in different categories.

The Tennis Section of the Ikoyi Club 1938 came alive at the weekend when the SNEPCO/NNPC Tennis Championship served off with 80 players competing in different categories.

According to the draw released by the organisers, eight teams in two groups will compete under the names of oil fields operated by SNEPCO. They are Bonga South West, Bonga Main, Bolia Chota, Nwadora, Stella Buoy, Bonga North West,  Freeman House and Bonga FPSO.

Speaking on the tournament, Managing Director of Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company (SNEPCo), Bayo Ojulari pointed that it would help further bonds among members, while also providing the opportunity to promote healthy living through sports.

Ojulari, who is also the General Manager Deeepwater, stated that SNEPCO pioneered Nigeria’s deep-water oil and gas production at the Bonga field, a project that increased Nigeria’s oil capacity by 10 per cent when output began in 2005 adding that at full output, Bonga has the potential to add more than 200,000 barrels of crude oil and 150 million standard cubic feet of gas to Nigeria’s daily production.

Shell companies in Nigeria are major contributors to the economy, not only through the energy they produce and the revenues they generate for the country, but also via their supply chains, local content and social investment.

He noted as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility, SNEPCO, among others, is also involved in sports, healthcare, education, security and road safety.
