The 2018 Nigeria Oil and Gas Industry Games continue today at the Legacy Pitch of the National Stadium Lagos, with teams competing in the preliminaries of the football event battling for qualification for the next stage of the competition.

Former Nigeria international, Coach Yisa Sofoluwe was the centre of attraction yesterday as he led Chevron to record a 3-0 victory over NCDMB.

After opening their account in the competition with a hard-earned 2-1 victory over NAOC yesterday, NNPC will today entertain NCDMB in the first game of matchday 2.

With three points in their kitty, a victory or a draw could see them edge closer to qualification for the semi final. But NCDMB will not be an easy prey as they will want to fight back after their 0-3 loss to Chevron yesterday and fight for a place among the last four. Only a victory can rekindle that hope.

Some other fixtures include NAOC taking on Chevron, while ExxonMobil entertain OVH. In other matches, Shell will lock horns with SEPLAT, and PTI taking on NLNG, while EROTON  will see action against TOTAL.

In yesterday’s matches, NNPC defeated NAOC 2-1, Shell spanked ExxonMobil 1-0. But the biggest win of the day was the 5-0 whitewash of SEPLAT by OVH in the afternoon fixture.

Sofoluwe said that their win over NCDMB yesterday was a warning to other teams in the competition. “We played a highly technical opponent and we able to punish them this way,” he said, adding that, “our target is to top our group and qualify for the semi finals.”
