The South South contingent to the just concluded fourth edition of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) Games has emerged the competition with a total haul of 27 medals made up of 17 gold, three silver and seven bronze medals.

The South South contingent to the just concluded fourth edition of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) Games has emerged the competition with a total haul of 27 medals made up of 17 gold, three silver and seven bronze medals.

The games tagged “Ogun 2018” was held in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
The second position went to the North Central with three gold, one silver and four bronze medals, while the North West finished third with three gold and one bronze medals.

The host, Ogun State came fifth with two gold, six silver and four bronze medals.

At the event, Dr. Bab Mohammed from North Central came first in Tennis, while Dr. Peter Singabele from South South won gold in Draught.

Dr. Habib Kado from North West emerged winner of Badminton, Dr. Bright Okar from South South won in Scrabble and Chess while Dr. M.B. Yusuf from South West came first in the Table Tennis category.

The South South also came first in the basketball and football categories while the South East clinched first in Volleyball.

Speaking on the achievement, the football coach for the South South, Dr. Christian Adeneye said the input and financial contribution of all the chairmen from the zones helped the team to successfully defend their trophy for the third time.

He hoped NMA would only continue to improve on its performance particularly in branding and communication.

A representative of the promoter of the games, Mega Lifesciences Nigeria Limited, Mr. S. S. N. Raju, said the company supported the event to promote sport, good health, exercise and well being among Nigerians.
