Spanish scouts in Nigeria to search for talents
Four Spanish scouts have arrived in Nigeria to search for young football talents at the 10th Aspire Football Dreams Top 50, which holds from September 21 to 24, 2016.
The scouts will through 80 fields situated in the nooks and crannies of Nigeria for talents that may eventually become part of the Aspire Football Dreams programme, which will afford the chosen talents the opportunity to get scholarship for the next five years.
The scouts include, Xavier Gisbert, Oscar Palacios, Xavier Comas and Josep Maria Paris. They will work with sports managers of the Aspire Football Dreams, Nigeria.
Explaining the programme, Country Director, Col. Sam Ahmedu (rtd), said, “Since the commencement of the Aspire Football Dreams in Nigeria back in 2007, the country has benefitted a great deal in the identification of talents that have gone ahead to represent Nigeria. The various national teams have also benefitted through camping at the Aspire Sports Academy in Qatar.”
He noted that the academy provides a scholarship scheme where the players drawn from around the world are taught the rudiments of being professional football players, as well as give them opportunities to study different languages like French, English, Spanish, Portuguese, Dutch and Arabic to guide them when signing contracts after graduation.
