Taraba FC held hostage over unpaid hotel bills
The Taraba State Football Club (Taraba FC), yesterday were detained by the management of the Moralex Hotel in Wuse Zone Two in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), over refusal to offset their hotel bills.
The team last week played against Abuja FC and were said to have sourced funds from groups and individuals before proceeding for the league encounter. Speaking withThe Guardian, the club chairman, Daniel Ishaya Gani, said: “The people we borrowed money from for us in order to honour the National league feature in Abuja and the management of the hotel we lodged are holding us hostage because of our inability to offset our bills.
“We have resolved to go round and borrow money from our members in the National Assembly and we are hopeful that some of them will come to our rescue.”
While describing the situation as a sad one, Gani expressed dismay at the way and manner the state government has continued to relegate both the players and the team management to the background.
He, however, hopes that the ministers and other members of the National Assembly from the state would save them from the situation.
