The Chairman of the Local Organising Committee for the 21st African Senior Athletics Championship, Chief Solomon Ogba has expressed delight at the
success recorded at Wednesday’s African tour event.

Ogba stated that the success at the test event is a pointer to the fact that CAA Asaba 2018 will even be more successful.

In a statement issued by Olukayode Thomas, Head of Media and Publicity for CAA Asaba 2018, the LOC boss said he was very happy with how the test event was conducted, while also giving kudos to the crowd that thronged the newly-completed Stephen Keshi Stadium.

Ogba who revealed that the athletes that competed were paid promptly after the test event, said all the facilities that were used are all in tip-top shape and ready for the African championships that would take place August 1-5.

“That was just a glimpse of what to expect. The test event was very successful, and I can assure all that the African Championships will even be better because we have worked extra hard to make sure we are where we are now,” Ogba stated.

For the athletes, the Africa tour event was a welcome development for them to have a feel of the newly laid tracks and other facilities at the Stephen Keshi Stadium.

Medal hopefuls for Nigeria at CAA Asaba 2018 like Divine Oduduru, Patience Okon, Joy Udo-Gabriel among others all won their races at the Africa tour event to further highlight their readiness to rub shoulders with the rest of the continent.
