The second edition of the Lagos State Traditional Games is ongoing at the Mobolaji Johnson Sports Centre, Rowe Park, Yaba and will end tomorrow.

The championship features games as Ayo, Abula, Kokowa and Langa for under-15 students in both the junior and senior secondary schools.

Twenty schools were picked across the educational districts in the state for the event organised by the Lagos State Traditional Sports Association and made possible by the Lagos State government through the Lagos State Sports and.

The Executive Chairman of the Sports Commission, Dr. Kweku Adedayo Tandoh, said the reason for organising the event was that the state was focusing on school sports growth.

He stated that discovering of new young athletes in all the sports was the aim of the competition, adding that with this the state would have a pool of athletes to select from for national and international competitions.
