What promises to be a thriller awaits soccer fans in Warri, Delta State this afternoon, as two title rivals, Warri Wolves and Sunshine Stars clash.

When both teams met on June 18 in Akure, Sunshine Stars ran away with a lone goal victory, a defeat Wolves’
Technical Adviser, Paul Aigbogun, says must be retaliated today.

After 31 matches, Wolves and Sunshine Stars are neck-to-neck on the table with the Akure based side having 53 points as against Wolves’ 52. The People’s Elephants, Enyimba of Aba, is seating on top with 58 points.

Speaking yesterday, Aigbogun said that Wolves would conquer the visitors, assuring the fans that they should not entertain any fear.

On Wednesday, players of Warri Wolves embarked on protest over unpaid salaries, a protest the state government described as uncalled for.

It was learnt yesterday that the players and their officials got their salaries yesterday evening as promised by the government.

Aigbogun who spoke after their training yesterday morning declared that what happened during the week when the players made an attempt to go on strike would not affect their performance because the players know what is at stake in today’s game against Sunshine.

“We have just finished our training and I know that the players will live up to expectations. We have talked to them and they know what is at stake. We cannot allow that to affect us especially with what Sunshine did to us in the first leg in Akure,” Aigbogun said.

Sunshine Stars put their title challenge back on track just as they added more misery to relegation-troubled, Kwara United by winning 2-1 in Ilorin last Saturday, just as Warri Wolves shared points with Kano Pillars in Kano.

Also today, Giwa FC, who are currently occupying the fifth position on the table will host Kano Pillars in a game that promises to be another thriller.

Giwa has 50 points from 31 games, while Pillars has 45 points after sharing points with visiting Warri Wolves last weekend. Shooting Stars, seating ninth position on the table with 45 points will the home to bottom place team, Bayelsa Utd, at the Adamasingba Stadium.
