Zenith Bank restates commitment for Principals Cup in Delta

Zenith Bank Plc has renewed its partnership with the Delta State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education for the Principals Cup competition in the state.

According to the Commissioner for Basic and Education, Chiedu Ebie, the tournament as an old avenue, had created the discovery of budding football stars from where they are nurtured to develop their skills.

He said that the Principals Cup as a way to discover talents, would develop alongside football participants their academic with a view to bringing out the best in them. He thanked Zenith Bank for partnering with the government for the rebirth of football tournament in the state.

Ebie said that sports development should not be left for government alone, as it may be different in the development of various sports without partnership. He added that the best team at the end of the event would represent the state at Shell Cup.

Earlier, the coordinator of the Principals Cup, Tony Oritse-Pemu from Hideaplux Limited, the consultancy firm assigned the responsibility to manage the game, said that the Zenith Bank-Delta Principals Cup is a junior tier football championship for both public and private schools in Delta State, organised by the State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education aimed at reviving football at the secondary school across the state.

Expectedly, the preliminary matches would be carried out in the 25 local government areas of the state after which it will be reduced to zonal eliminations for the quarterfinal ties.
