The Leadership of the National Association of University Students (NAUS) has appealed to the management of the University of Lagos (UNILAG) to reinstate the suspended Students Union leaders that participated in the April 6 and 7 protest to draw attention of the school authority to the deplorable state of facilities on campus.NAUS made this call at its National Secretariat in Ekiti State University (EKSU).

According to the press release jointly signed by the National President of the association Jonathan Adekunle and Chairman of the Campus Monitoring Committee, Lagos State axis, Chinedu Anudu, the union wondered why the management took such a decision, which according to them was not in the best interest of UNILAG students.

The group observed that the decision of UNILAG management was equivalent to killing the right, interest and potentials of students, which contravenes the 1999 Constitution and Africa Charter on human rights, which gives students the right to elect their leaders and maintain a union without interference from the university authorities.

Part of the appeal made by NAUS include, reinstatement of the suspended students union leaders, lifting of ban on the University of Lagos Students Union (ULSU) and immediate conduct of the 2016/2017 students union elections in UNILAG.
