RUN graduates first set of doctoral students
Opeoluwa Samuel Adewale-Fasoro of Microbiology Department emerged the overall best with 4.97 CGPA. Another milestone achieved by the school is the graduation of the first set of doctoral students.
At the event, General Yakubu Danjuma was appointed and invested as the new chancellor of the school. He replaced the pioneer Chancellor, Prof. Tekena Nitonye Tamuno, who died last year.
In his speech, the VC, Prof. Debo Adeyewa, said the graduating set is the largest set so far, the first to register online, the first to use computer-based testing procedure for the Post-UTME screening and also the first to be admitted into degree programmes after the National Universities Commission (NUC) approval of the university programmes.
“ We have an unbeatable standard in teaching and learning. The university is not resting on its oars in the field of research. We continue to invest in human, infrastructural and material resources in order to remain at the forefront of research. In the past one year, our research efforts have yielded tangible fruits of which the World Bank funded African Centre of Excellence for the Genomics of Infectious Diseases (ACEGID), hosted by the university is making giant strides in human healthcare and wellness, among others,” he said.
Noting that private universities are making significant contributions to the development of the nation, Adeyewa called on government to support the institutions by providing incentives, including funds for research to further enable it contribute to the development of the nation.
