Dr. Myles Munroe said, “You can be hardworking and not be effective. “Being diligent in a business is not the key to success in business, but being ‘diligent’ in your business.

“Do you see a man diligent and skilful in his business? He will stand before kings; he will not stand before obscure man.” Prov.22: 29 (Amp)

Dr. Myles Munroe said, “You can be hardworking and not be effective. “Being diligent in a business is not the key to success in business, but being ‘diligent’ in your business. You must be able to identify your business from all other businesses. You must be able to identify what you have the potential to do, and stop jumping here and there.

Avoid jumping into businesses you don’t have sufficient facts about. Anybody that wants to make a mark in the business world or in life must stop building his or her business on ignorant speculations. When you make business decisions based on incomplete information, the result is confusion, wasted effort and fruitless venture.

“So Saul clothed David with his armour, and he put a bronze helmet on his head, he also clothed him with a coat of mail. David fastened his sword to his armour and tried to walk, for he had not tested them. And David said to Saul, “I cannot walk with these, for I have not tested them, “So David took them off.” 1Sam.17: 38 39

David avoided using the armour, because he didn’t have enough information about its usage. He went for a simple instrument that he has sufficient facts about, and what was supposed to be complex, became simple.

Many businesses are “leaking” because whatever is done based on unproven speculation ends up with a lot of loose ends. You need to gather all the facts before taking major steps in business. You can’t keep gambling with your resources due to ignorance.

“For which of you, intending to build a tower does not sit down first and count the cost, whether he has enough to finish it.” Luke14: 28

It is better to postpone any serious business or life-changing decision, when all the facts needed have not been gathered, rather than to forge ahead and fail. It is better to be late than to lose. Your performance is tied to how well-informed you are in your field.

Don’t allow anyone pressurise you into an unknown journey. Be patient to learn all the basics because if the foundation is faulty, there is nothing anyone can do. Doing business that you do not know enough about is like walking in the dark.

Your wisdom in one business does not make up for your foolishness in another business. You have to create time to study and gather the vital information you need to build a business that will last. Research often takes time, but it also saves future arguments, confusion and waste.

Stop giving your business a casual approach, so you don’t end up as a casualty. Stop using “trial by error” technique. Equip yourself thoroughly, so that you can work like someone that knows what he or she is doing.

“The simpleton believes every word he hears, but the prudent man looks and considers well where he is going.” Prov.14: 15 (Amp). “A simple man believes anything, but a prudent man gives thought to his steps.” Prov.14: 15 (NIV)

You need to investigate before you invest, so that you don’t put your feet on a shaky ground. Gathering the right information before you kick off helps you to know what you are doing from the beginning. Having the right information puts you ahead of others.
