On this significant day, Jesus came to Jerusalem to celebrate a Jewish feast when he sighted this man laying by the pool of Bethesda. He laid there because people believed the water had healing power whenever an angel stirred it. When Jesus saw him, he asked him, “Do you wish to get well?”

Today, the Lord said I should ask you, do you wish to stop repeating the same mistakes, experiencing same nightmare and moving in a cycle? What do you wish to get rid from your life? He that did for that man will do a miracle that will change your situation and level for better in Jesus name.

The captivity is so great that when the solution arrived he did not know, Jesus asked the man, “Do you want to be made well?” instead of saying, yes, he offered circumstances and excuses. “Sir, I have no man to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up, but while I am coming, another steps down before me.”  Jesus said to him, “Get up, pick up your pallet and walk.” Immediately the man became well, and picked up his pallet and began to walk…” This man had been lame, or paralyzed, and suddenly he could walk. This was a great miracle. All glory to the miracle worker.

It is interesting to note that Jesus did not help the man get into the water, the usual way some people got healed. He came to him on his mat, the same mat and situation the man had long wish to escape, gave His word of authority. “Get up, pick up your pallet and walk.”  God is prepared to work in your life, be sensitive not to shut His miracles by limiting your views about how He works.

Are you sitting on your mat? What are you waiting for? “Stand up, take your mat and walk.”I think there are a couple of applications we can make from the story before closing it.Just like this man had used his resources for 38 years to get well, we usually depend on our own resources to solve our problems. When they don’t work, we despair. This is natural with human beings.

Even when we do turn to God, sometimes it is with the wrong goal in mind. This man was secretly happy to see Jesus come to him. He wanted Jesus to help him get down to the pool. Don’t we often look to God to give us what we think we need, when, in fact, what we need is God, Himself.
God bless.
