Peace and holiness: The lifestyle of a christian youth

The Youth Fellowship of Methodist Church Nigeria, Diocese of D/Line held their yearly youth week from August 23 to 29, 2018. It opened with a communion service in all the Circuits within the Diocese presided over by their Circuit Presbyters.

The Youth Fellowship of Methodist Church Nigeria, Diocese of D/Line held their yearly youth week from August 23 to 29, 2018. It opened with a communion service in all the Circuits within the Diocese presided over by their Circuit Presbyters. In the Cathedral, Very Rev. Peter Dim admonished the youths to be diligent in serving the Lord.

On Tuesday a health talk on drug abuse was delivered by Amb. Nwisah Lauretta Lekpoa, who explained that drug abuse is the misappropriation or illegal usage of drugs without the doctor’s prescription. She charged the youth to shun it because it harms the body and leads to crime. Wednesday evening was a time of remembering the Wesleyan heritage through the singing of hymns and telling the stories behind some of them. Many young people, including their parents, participated in this session, as the atmosphere was truly filled with the glory of the Lord.

On Thursday a business seminar was given by Mr. Fyneface Amadi, who spoke on how to become good entrepreneurs, as well as having business ideas through the recognition of hidden opportunities. He left no stone unturned as he ensured that every participant understood what it takes to be successful in business including forex trading. Friday was a night of Praise at the D/Line Cathedral; it was a moment of praising God who deserves all praises. The night was also graced by music ministers such as Minister Julia Nwokocha, The Youth Praise Choir and a host of other anointed minstrels.

Saturday was the Diocesan rally during which different Circuits in the Diocese competed for prizes. In his address, the Bishop of Diocese of D/Line, Rt. Rev. Dr. Etim U. Ekong, JP, enjoined the youths to become true ambassadors of Christ. He urged them to emulate David’s life of dedication to duty, as a good shepherd. According to him, David developed himself and became mighty in life. There were hymn competitions from MHB 396, quiz to Methodism and book of Joshua led by the Coordinator, The Rev. Paul Egbo and the Diocesan President, Rose Lawrence. Woji Circuit came first in the Bible quiz while D/Line Circuit took the first position in hymn singing. The overall first position went to D/Line Circuit. Other Circuits were Rumukalagbor and Asarama Circuits.

The week was concluded with a thanksgiving on Sunday. During the service, The Prelate of Methodist Church Nigeria, His Eminence, Dr. Samuel ‘Emeka Kanu Uche, JP, admonished the youth never to toy with their youthful age, urging them to love God’s word and ensure they study it. He also charged members to get their PVCs and also vote during the election. He added that they should spread the gospel of Jesus Christ.

The Diocesan youth President, Rose Lawrence, who spoke on “peace and holiness: the lifestyle of the youth” stated that youthful age is a transition period. She urged every Christian youth to let their light shine in families, campuses, offices and the society at large, stating that a youth without Christ has invited crisis. Having admonished youths to make peace and holiness, as their lifestyle, she led them in prayers.
