RCCG Great Commission Assembly holds empowerment service
To positively influence the lives of Christians and other residents of Alakuko community, the Redeemed Christian Church of God, (RCCG), Great Commission Assembly, Lagos Province 5, recently organised an empowerment service to boost job security.
The organisers of the initiative and host pastor, Chidi Nwankwo said the church decided to embark on the programme because it is important for the body of Christ to influence the lives of those around through such means, aside feeding them with the word of God and praying for them.
In his sermon, Pastor Matthias Ajose, RCCG, Lagos Province 25, Hamadiyya, said every good thing comes in its own time and Christians should know that they should not worry, but rather put their trust and hope in God.
He advised Christians to cultivate a positive outlook and the right attitude to life.
The Commissioner, Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Lagos State, Hon. Lola Akande spoke on skills acquisition programme spearheaded by her ministry. Represented by an Assistant Director, Mrs. Popoola, the commissioner urged people in the community to embrace skills acquisition, and that on graduation, the government would support graduates with cash and equipment to kick-start their businesses.
Dr. Moses Adegbuyi of God’s Mercy Clinic delivered a lecture on diabetic and implications of carefree approach to health issues. He warned against worrying, saying Nigerians agonise too much on challenges facing them, instead of entrusting such to God.
Also an optician with Oramal Eye Clinic, Dr. Florence Osagie warned participants on the dangers of poor eye care that could lead to glaucoma and blindness. She recommended preventive measures and treatment for eye problems.
