Many people have not been able to differentiate between show off and promotion of their products, services and ideas. Religion has made many see promotion of their products, services and ideas as show off. A lot of people have become victims of “CONSERVATISM.” They are trying to sell to the public what they kept as secret. Conservatism doesn’t work in the market place.

Most of us were brought up to hide whatever we have and let the world discover it themselves. Many of us grew up resenting promotion of our products, services and ideas. We all want to excel in the Market place but only a few of us are comfortable with the promotion of our ideas.

“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:14-16NIV

We are not destined to be put under a basket but on a lamp stand. Some of us prefer to keep it ‘cool’ because we have experienced rejection over and over again. Many of us have allowed our experience of rejection to put us in the hiding.

If you want to succeed in the marketplace don’t allow rejection, poor upbringing, and fear rob you of the publicity of your product/services. A lot of people were raised and taught that it is impolite to blow your own trumpet. The market place is so crowded and if you can’t blow your own trumpet, who will? The market place is so noisy that CONSERVATISM is hardly noticed.

“For no one does anything in secret while he himself seek to be known openly, if you do these things show yourself to the world.” John 7:4.I read the book of John for many years and did not see this verse because of my conservatism mentality. I know quite a lot of us are seeing this for the first time not necessarily reading for the first time.

“No one who intends to be publicly known does everything behind the scenes. If you’re serious about what you are doing, come out in the open and show the world.” John 7:4(MSG).

There are many frustrated talented people that are in the hiding. They can do so much, but a few people know about what they can do. And there are those who can do so little and the whole world knows about it – hence they outshine those who can do so much.

Don’t allow anyone or anything silence your potential in the market place. David did not allow his elder brother (Eliab) to stop him from letting the king know what he can do. Even Jesus did not gather the crowd until it was noised (publicised) that he is in the house. (Mark 2).

People that are broke are usually not broke because they are not gifted. Most gifted people are broke because nobody knows what they can do. The man that did not profit with his talent said that because he was afraid, he went to hide his talent. (Matt 25:25,38). He ended as a failure not because he wasn’t given a talent but because he went and hide his talent out of fear. Do not hide your business, noise it.
