The chosen breaks ground for Crown University
Muoka Commends Leah Sharibu’s Faith In Christ, Asks Christians To Emulate Her
Founder and General Overseer of The Lord’s Chosen Charismatic Revival Ministries, Worldwide, Pastor Lazarus Muoka at the church’s Easter programme announced the groundbreaking of The Chosen Crown University coming up on April 10 in Mgbidi, Imo State. CHRIS IREKAMBA was there.
How far has your church gone with The Chosen Crown University project?
We want to thank God, especially the government of Imo State, who saw the need for proper education for Nigerians. For the love of the ministry, Governor Rochas Okorocha has given us 600 hectares of land. We appreciate it so much, and it is a pointer that we should go on to build the university. In addition, they have also encouraged us by giving us N10m to clear the bush. So, we give God the glory for such gifts. We believe that it has come at the right time, by the specially grace of God. We see it as a miracle and favour from God.
In this ministry, we tagged this year, a year of dominion, increase, multiplication and favour. So, you can see how God has shown us favour according to this year’s name. That is also telling us that the name we gave to 2018 is already being fulfilled. I see that God Almighty is here and He is confirming everything we do here. The site of the university is very close to our crusade ground in Mgbidi, Imo State. It is about two or three kilometres from the crusade ground.
Education cannot be overemphasised. Every child needs education and it is very important to the Nigerian society, because the number of people that do not go to school is more than those who attend. And if you look at what is going on today, you will discover that a good number of children are going for JAMB every year. Many youths are not absorbed in our universities. So, we need more universities. Indeed, the Imo State government remarked that the state needs 20 universities more.
When is takeoff of the university?
By the special grace of God, it’s not going to be long. We are going for the groundbreaking on April 10, this year; and the governor will be on ground to perform it. After that, we will begin to put infrastructure in place. I believe it is overdue and God Almighty will see us through.
Will your university be affordable? Faith-based universities are costly…
By the grace of God, we will look into it. But for now, we do not know the cost. I will reserve my comment on that, until we are able to work on that.
The non-release of Leah Sharibu has been a major concern, especially to Christians. What is your take on this?
First, I pray that God Almighty intervenes in her situation and cause her abductors to release her. I also want to commend that little girl’s courage and faith in God. Her decision not to denounce her relationship with God has shown to us that, no matter what any Christian is passing through in life, we must not deny Christ. No matter the suffering or trial a Christian may be going through, we must wait on the Lord. By that girl’s example, nothing on earth should make Christians to deny Christ.
What is the significance of your Easter programme?
The significance is that through Christ’s death, burial and resurrection, mankind is reconciled to God. So, His death and resurrection is to ensure our reconciliation with Him. We now have peace with God and with men, including salvation, which is part of the blessing.
So, we are marking the blessings He brought to us through His death and resurrection. And that is what our Easter programme, ‘Covenant of peace and blessings’ is all about. Every time this programme comes up, we all know it’s a programme that God Almighty has specially designed. So, it is aimed at bringing peace upon our nation. This time around, no matter the crisis, as a result of this event today, I believe the Lord’s peace and the blessings will come upon us.
