Memory Verse: “Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.” 1 Thessalonians 5:21

Bible Passage: 1 Thessalonians 5:15-24

INTRODUCTION
: In this final edition, we will take a closer look at some specifics, common areas of conflict. The fear of the Lord is, indeed, the beginning of wisdom. Godly wisdom should always be given the highest priority in every home.
Worship: There is no substitute for regular, consistent family worship of the Lord in spirit and in truth. This should be the first thing in the morning and the last thing at night. At a set place and time. Attendance should be compulsory. Family life should revolve round the family altar. It is deeply spiritual and goes a long way in keeping the family together, well bonded in God’s will. It is a spiritual shield. A conflict resolution centre- Ps.95: 6. 1 Chr.16: 29; Ps.150: 6. Tangible impartations take place. These include:

• El-Shaddai, Gen.17: 1. The family head receives the spirit of fatherhood and a father’s heart.
• Love, 1 Jn. 4: 8.
• Strength, 1 Sam.15: 29.

Every home is unique and bespoke, 1 Pet.2: 9. Ps.150: 6, Ps.22: 3. Illumination and revelation, 1 Jn.1: 5. Some examples- Cornelius, Acts 10:1-2; Joshua 24:15; Louis/Eunice, 2 Tim.1: 5.

Discipline: The Christian home is the recruitment ground for soldiers of the cross. The basic tenets of the Christian discipline and faith should be taught at the very early stages of life. Parents cannot be too spiritually sensitive in this task. There are too many prowlers in cyberspace dedicated to exploiting and corrupting children. The world is in overdrive in preventing children from learning about God and how to live godly lives, 2 Tim.2: 4; 1 Jn.2: 15-17. Tame your appetite and lusts, 1 Cor.7: 5, 29-31. Live by examples, with no discrepancy between your word and deed, Col.4: 5. Redeeming the precious time in these evil days, Eph.5: 15, Pro.14: 24; Pro.22: 15. Corporal punishment is an important ingredient in the mix.

Finances: The earth belongs to the Lord and everything therein, Ps.24: 1. The Corinthian church gave of themselves and of their substances generously. Understand each other’s views on money and harmonise your short and long-term financial goals. Amos 3: 3. Take it all before God, Ps.37: 5. 1 Cor.10: 31. Support God’s work e.g. Aquila and Priscilla, Rom.16: 3-4. Again, the head must provide the needs of the home, while the wife should manage efficiently and support the husband, Pro. 31:10-29. Faithful tithe payment should be non-negotiable.

Conclusion
Even marriages “made in heaven” are consummated by imperfect mortals on earth. Marriage is an unending learning curve and each season of life presents a new vista with new syllabi. You will succeed with flying colours in Jesus name.
