Eminent Nigerian, Professor Olufemi Otubanjo is to deliver a lecture titled: “The Role of Christians in National Development,” on October 21. The lecture, which is aimed at addressing national issues and the role of Christians in the society, is organised by the Torch Bearers, the oldest and foremost male society in the Cathedral Church of Christ, Marina, Lagos, as part of events lined up to mark its 75th anniversary.

Other activities slated for the programme include the launching of a book titled: “Let your light shine,” published by the society, community Hymn singing and reception/recognition and awards.

Speaking at a conference to intimate the public on the anniversary, chairman of the Society, Dr. Oyeyemi Adegbite, said: “In pursuit of its vision and mission, the Society will be using the occasion to raise funds for completion of its evangelical project at the Igboologun Immanuel Anglican Church on Snake Island, across Lagos Lagoon.

“The first phase of the project involving the church’s rehabilitation, reconstruction and refurbishment had been completed and handed over by the society in 2015. The funds to be raised during the 75th anniversary celebration will be used in completing the second phase of the Immanuel Church Development project involving building of a vicarage,” he said.
