Memory Verse: Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God; 2 Timothy 1:8

Bible Passage: 2 Timothy 2:1-14

Introduction
We pointed out in parts 1 and 2 that God is not just willing to use man, but as a matter of fact, He is really eager to partner with the human race to achieve His eternal purpose. On the other hand, man has been far less enthusiastic about partnering with God. Still, it is the plan and purpose of God that shall stand. He has innumerable options.

He Is Sovereign
God is the only true and real Sovereign. He made all things; and without Him was not any thing made that was made. He is in heaven and does as He pleases. No one can question or resist Him. He is not bound by democracy. His choice and counsel renders every other factor irrelevant. Sometimes, His choice might actually appear odd or strange. But His ways are not our ways, neither are His thoughts our thoughts. It is futile and laughable for man to try and subvert His plan. History has taught us that this is one of the lessons we have refused to learn. It is wise to invest time and effort in finding His will and embracing it wholeheartedly Jn.15:19; Acts 1:23-25; Rom.9:10-16,21; 2 Sam.15:6-7; 2Kgs.15: 5; 2 Tim.4:10; Jn.6:10; Jn.13:18; Acts 9:10-15; 1 Jn.4:10. If we stand back from the rat race and resist the herd instinct and meditate, reflect, and pray, the Lord will grant us insight, understanding and revelation. It is unlikely to happen in the middle of an angry argument about the referee’s decision.

An Open Invitation
God is love and more than fair to all. He has issued an open invitation: “come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” Mathew 11:28; Isa.45:22. He invites through men. Many do not accept His invitation. Please do and you will find meaning and purpose in life. 2 Cor.5:20; Jn.7: 37-38; Rev.3:20; Rev.22: 17.

Conclusion
Responding to the Master’s call is the most important decision of your life. It brings you into your destiny. It marks the beginning of fulfilment of God’s purpose for your life. It is the start of running a good race and finishing well. Any other response will not only rob you of a fulfilled life, but also open you to the real risk of ending badly and on the wrong side of eternity. This will not be your portion in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen!
