Pleads For Financial Support

The joy of motherhood that Rashidat Adenike Oluokun had after giving birth to a set of twins in February has been cut short. This is because four months after she delivered her babies, she cannot leave the hospital premises at 16 Ajileye Street, Ilaje, Bariga, due to non-payment of the full hospital bill. The man she claimed is her husband has refused to show up.

Speaking with The Guardian, and appearing to be dejected, Oluokun said she was delivered of her babies through caesarean operation on February 17, which made the hospital bill to be on the high side. She said after the babies came, she informed their father, who claimed he was not in town. He sent his mother and sister to come see her and the babies.

After that visit, she said neither her husband nor any of his relations have show up again. Oluokun, a factory worker before she gave birth to the twins, said she has used all her savings to pay part of the hospital bill and other expenses, reason she cannot pay the balance of the hospital bill.

She is now stranded and needs the support of good Samaritans to pay the balance so that she and her babies could go home, especially since her supposed husband and father of the babies is no where to be found. She said any time he called the father of the babies, he was always saying he was not in Lagos.

The doctor in charge of the hospital confirmed she had not been allowed to go home because of the balance of her hospital bill. The doctor said Oluokun had been told that if she could pay fifty per cent of the remainder of the bill with a promise to pay the other fifty per cent later, she would be allowed to go home.

When The Guardian called the husband, Abu Bakare Olooto on phone, he denied he was the person. He also denied he has a wife who was recently delivered of a set of twins. But on the Whatsap page of Olooto, is his picture and that of another lady, used as the displayed picture.

Oluokun said Olooto had been denying he is her husband, especially if she was not the caller. She further said if he was not her husband and the father of the babies, his mother and sister who visited her at the hospital and gave her some financial support would not have shown up. She also revealed that Olooto moved out of their family house in Onipanu area of Lagos after she gave birth to somewhere at Iyana Ipaja.
