The Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha has approved the appointment of Transition Committee Chairmen of Mbaitoli and Oru West Local Councils of the state.

According to a statement signed by the Principal Secretary to the governor, Dr. paschal Obi, Chris Nwike, was named the chairman nominee of Mbaitoli, while Ferdinand Uzodinma, is the chairman nominee for Oru East Local Council.  The statement also named Obinna Amabula, as the Chairman, Owerri Capital Development Authority (OCDA).

While Amabula’s appointment is with immediate effect, that of the two councils, were forwarded to the Imo House of Assembly, for legislative action.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner for Works and Transport, Mrs. JosephineUdorji, has urged monarchs and village heads in various communities to warn their subjects to stop constructing speed bumps in rural and urban roads in the state, directing them to remove them immediately.

Udorji, who was on inspection tour of the communities, said it was illegal to do such, because it is causing nightmares and defacing roads.  She frowned at the action, wondering why after constructing roads, the villagers do otherwise, inflicting sufferings on the commuters and motorists.

She reminded that statutorily, such was not allowed on trunk A and B roads, where speed limit per hour was 80 kilometers, adding that trunk C roads where the law approves such, must follow government’s approved guideline with road signs of 200 meters before the bombs for caution.
