It is for good reasons that a day is set aside to specially celebrate fathers all over the world. As heads of families, they are saddled with the responsibility of steering family affairs properly and successfully in the right direction. Together with the mothers, it is their responsibility to ensure that their children are well cared for, protected, loved and nurtured, so that they become responsible adults, able to contribute to society’s development. As this year’s Father’s Day is celebrated, today, Nigerian children wish their fathers more strength and grace to discharge their fatherly duties.

‘I Wish My Father Long Life’
My dream is to be an author. I love my father so much, because he is a good man, who always attends to my needs. I wish my father long life and a happy Father’s Day. I would want all fathers in the country to pay more attention to their children and help them with their academic works, even during the FIFA World Cup holding in Russia.
Kery Abasedimoh, JSS3,
TDDC Schools and College, Ijedodo, Ijegun, Lagos.

‘I Pray That My Father Becomes More Successful’
I think Father’s Day should be a day all children appreciate their fathers for all the good things they are doing for them. Daddy, I love you and thank you so much for your care, but please increase my pocket money. I pray that my father will be more successful in life. I promise to improve in my academic performance. I would want all fathers to always exercise with their children and be less strict with them. I am going to give my father a big hug to commemorate the day.
Ellington Elimihele, JSS3,
TDDC Schools and College, Ijedodo Ijegun, Lagos.

‘Daddy, I love You And Pray For Your Protection’
I love literature and my plan is to be an on-air-personality (OAP). Fathers should be celebrated because they are caring, protective and always provide guidance. My daddy is a loving man, and anytime he travels, he usually buys things for us. I would love all fathers to be more caring and provide life necessities for their children. Fathers should also fund their children’s education to enable them succeed in life. I think outstanding fathers that are shining example of fatherhood should be recognised and celebrated.
Ireoluwakomi Tunde Adetula, SS1
TDDC Schools and College, Ijedodo, Ijegun, Lagos.

‘Thank You Daddy For Being Loving And Caring’
I share a strong bond with my father, and we often go out and play together. I thank my father for his kindness and I love him much. Children need their fathers’ care, so fathers should try to create time for them. I think fathers should prioritise their children’s education and support their development.
Bolurin Tunde Adetula JSS2
TDDC Schools and College, Ijedodo, Ijegun, Lagos.

‘Dad I Thank You For Always Paying My School Fees’
My father is a strict, humble and understanding man. I want to celebrate him on this Father’s Day because he has been celebrating me every day. My mum, siblings and I will contribute money to buy him a wristwatch and cards. Daddy I thank you because you always pay my school fees and you are my best friend. I would want children to be respectful and obedient to their parents.
Golibe Nwobi, Pry 6
Havila Nursery and Primary School, Ajao Estate, Lagos.

‘Daddy, I’ll Buy Beautiful Gifts For You When I Grow Up’
My father is a kind man. He loves me and all of us in his family. When I grow up, I would like to buy beautiful gifts for my father. I love my daddy because he is caring and loving. Children should not be rude to their daddies.
Gbajumo Adeola Pry 6
Havila Nursery and Primary School, Ajao Estate, Lagos.

‘I Love And Respect My Father A Lot’
My dad is the breadwinner in our family. He is very caring and protective. Whenever I do something wrong and my father disciplines me, I feel he is doing the right thing because he is teaching me to be good in future. I love and respect my father a lot. The first gift I gave my father was a shirt and he appreciated it. This time, I am going to give him a wristwatch and recharge cards. Children should learn to respect their fathers.
Chidinma Nweke SS2
Gbolahan High Secondary, Ajao Estate, Lagos.

‘No Gift Can Ever Be Good Enough For My Daddy’
My father is a nice man, and he provides for his family. He is also loving and caring. He always explains to me what I did wrong and the right thing to do, anytime he disciplines me. I’ll give my father salt on Father’s Day. Salt stands for joy. I will do my best in life to give my daddy joy. No gift can ever be adequate to show appreciation to my daddy, who has been doing so much for me since I was born.
Osilade Toluwalase Israel SS1
Gbolahan High Secondary,
Ajao Estate, Lagos.

‘My Father Was The Best’
My father was a good man, though he is late. But he did his best to care for and protect my siblings and I, when he was alive. Fathers are heads of the family. So, they should love, care and guide their children, so that they can be successful in life. Children should also respect and obey their fathers.
Ekeh Chinenerem SS2
Gbolahan High Secondary, Ajao Estate, Lagos.

‘I Wish My Father More Success In Years Ahead’
I love my father so much, because he is caring and has been holding the family together. He is a spiritual man of God, as he is a Pastor. I wish him more success in years ahead. There is no gift I can give to my father that will be enough to pay him back for what he has been doing for me. Children can only show appreciation to their fathers by being good and making sure they perform well in their studies.
Chineme Nwobu Daniel, SS2
Gbolahan High Secondary, Ajao Estate, Lagos.

‘Dad, I’ll Always Love You’
Even though today is a day to celebrate fathers, I don’t have to wait to celebrate my father. He is my support, my number one fan and my super model. I thank my father for not giving me everything I want but only what is best for me. I don’t have any material gift to give to you daddy but only a vow to make. I promise to be the best in all that I do and make you happy all the days of your life. I pray that I am able to meet your needs when you are old, by God’s grace. I love you dad and will always do so.
Ilesanmi Inioluwa, Grade 4
Precris Primary School, Ikorodu, Lagos.

‘Daddy, I Appreciate You And Will Make You Proud’
I think my father is the most outstanding dad in the world. Daddy, I appreciate you for being a good father and always standing by me. You have being a mentor and my super hero. So, I want to use this opportunity to make you this promise as a gift: That I will make you proud of me in the future, and when I finally become a doctor, I will name my hospital after you. I love you dad.
Olanrewaju Ayomide, Grade 5
Precris Primary School, Ikorodu, Lagos.

‘Daddy, You Are Worth More than Gold’
On this special day, I am truly grateful to have you as a father, daddy. I thank you for acting like a kid when I was a kid, a friend when I needed one, and a disciplinarian when I need to be disciplined. I don’t have any gift to give because you are worth more than all the gifts in the world. You are indeed the best!
Odusanya Moyinoluwa, Grade 4
Precris Primary School, Ikorodu, Lagos.

My father, who is the General Overseer of Praise Assembly Int’l Church, and a graduate in criminology, is a man of his words. He calls spade, a spade. The best I can give my father on Father’s Day cannot be good enough. But I could give him the White House in the United States of America; I wouldn’t hesitate to do so, just to show him that he is the best father in the world.
Nwomonoh Okuchukwu, Basic 5
Harmony Land Primary School, Ikorodu, Lagos.

‘I Thank My Father For Being So Kind’
My father is a good man. He is trustworthy, loyal, caring, faithful and faces difficult situations with courage. There is no day that my father will not show affection to his family. I love you daddy. The most beautiful gift in the world is not enough to say thank you for always being there. I promise to be the best in future.
Mabadeje Flourish, Basic 5,
Harmony Land Primary School, Ikorodu, Lagos.

‘I Promise To Be The Best When I Grow Up’
My father is hardworking, trustworthy and fair in his actions. Everybody respects and honours him because of these qualities. The best gift I have in mind of giving to my father is a bottle of perfume and a wristwatch, as a token on Father’s Day. But these cannot compare to all the love, care and kindness he always show towards his family, especially his children. I will be the best when I grow up.
Okudero Genesis, Basic 5,
Harmony Land Primary School, Ikorodu, Lagos.

‘I Thank My Dad For Paying My School Fees’
I like my daddy because he buys things and take care of me. I am also happy that my daddy pays my school fees. To thank and appreciate him for being a good daddy, I would buy clothes for him on Father’s Day.
Chidinma Nwajeh, Nursery 2

‘I Love My Dad Because He Is Caring’
I love my daddy because he buys everything for me. He is very caring. I will give my dad ice cream and chocolate to thank him for being a good father.

‘I Love My Daddy’
I love my daddy because he buys things for me and takes me to Shoprite. I will buy wristwatch for him on Father’s Day.
Eniola Ayomide Nursery 2,

‘I Will Prepare My Father’s Favourite Food On That Day’
I will celebrate my daddy in a special way on Father’s Day by washing his clothes. I will surprise him by preparing his favourite meal, fufu and egusi soup on that day. In church on Sunday, I will pray for him.
Esther Ezechi, Basic 5,
Flowers Of Sharon Nursery and Pry School, Festac, Lagos.

‘Dad, I’ll Make You The Happiest Person In The World’
I love you daddy and I am very happy to have you as my father. I will make him the happiest person in the world. I want to thank him for taking good care of me, correcting me when I go wrong. If I can afford a car, I will buy him one in future.
Ezechi Martins, Basic 5

‘My Father Loves And Takes Care Of Me’
My father is a very lovely human being. I love him because he takes care of me, buys clothes and shoes for me, as well as pay my school fees. In celebrating the father’s day with him, I will take him to Shoprite to buy him gifts.
