Digify Africa to train 20 graduates on tech talent

DigifyPRO Nigeria, a not-for-profit initiative, has concluded plans to train 20 Nigerian graduates between the ages of 20 to 30 years, who are not currently in full-time employment with key skills to enter the digital workplace.

DigifyPRO Nigeria, a not-for-profit initiative, has concluded plans to train 20 Nigerian graduates between the ages of 20 to 30 years, who are not currently in full-time employment with key skills to enter the digital workplace.

DigifyPRO is an eight-week intensive digital marketing training programme facilitated by Digify Africa and supported by Facebook, which will involve live briefs workshops/presentations and placement.

The programme is designed to give trainees practical hands-on experience and cover topics to include, vocational and workplace skills; agency processes, customer care, client services; digital marketing.

Others include analytics and measurement; Social Media, Brand Reputation Management; Content and Email marketing; User Experience; Paid advertising; Search Engine Optimisation among others.

Speaking at the unveiling ceremony in Lagos, Head, Strategy, Digify Africa, Qhakaza Mthembu, said Digify Pro started in South Africa with intent of giving young people opportunity to flourish

She said: “We have got about 85 per cent of graduates who are still in the industry right now working on big brands and producing some really amazing works. We really felt it necessary to look at ways we can really expand this impact across the continent. Facebook has got a dedication to up scaling the continent, so I think our objectives aligned quite well.

“Nigeria we know is really amazing when it comes to innovation and when it comes to the hustle and that made us first to come here to Nigeria. Also giving number wise, the impact can be so much more in one country.”

Speaking on the sustainability of the programme, Mthembu said: “We are committed to really invest in the continent and to be able to upscale the continent, so am very hopeful that this is not going to be a one-off and really hopeful to see more of these co-holt.

With its recent programme with Facebook, Digify Pro Starter, She said social networking service company is now committed with a third one that is now running in South Africa.

In her remarks, Programme Director, Digify Nigeria, Mrs. Florence Olumodimu, said the end goal is to inject the Nigerian advertising industry with well-trained DigifyPRO graduates who bring with them a new burst of energy and critical cutting-edge skills.

Olumodimu revealed that at the end of the intensive eight weeks training, each graduate is placed at an agency/organisation as an intern for three months or in a junior position. With the wide range of skills, knowledge and hands on experience gained through the programme, our graduates become great assets for any company they join.

She said response from industry experts and agencies has been phenomenal with agencies already accepting to take on our prospective graduates upon completion.

She noted that there is no charge to the recruitment process to agencies/organisations.
