WITH the general elections now scheduled to start on Saturday, a mobile app developed to aid monitoring of the process from day one to end has been launched.

The election-monitoring app is called Every Vote Count (EVC) and developed by Mobile Xcetera, a wireless and mobile solution provider.

According to the firm, there have been several campaigns ranging from issue based to witch hunting and name smearing, all in a bid to outplay each other.

While several developed nations have perfected their electioneering process, Mobile Xcetera argued that Nigeria is still struggling with accepting a simple technology the umpire introduced as a means of curbing election rigging to the barest minimum.

The firm said the app would allow users to monitor elections from the comfort of their homes, “posting election results as announced by INEC official of your polling booth and ultimately report incidents at your polling booth with pictures as evidence? All this can be done on the EVC App”, it stated.

Mobile Xcetera said with the EVC, users can send result as declared by the INEC official in a polling unit; report incidence (pictures inclusive); view results from other polling units; get news alerts on election; opinion poll and chat forum.

The app, which can be downloaded from GooglePlay or Blackberry App world, is supported with platforms including Android phones; iPhone; Windows phones; regular Nokia; Blackberry and features phones.
