Foliotech Institute begins manpower training on science, technology

Foliotech Institute, a science, technology and visual arts academy, has commenced its 2018 intensive technical skills training on science and technology for prospective trainees to meet local and international standards.

The training commences at the school premises in Ajah, Lagos. The course contents include plumbing and pipefitting, welding and fabrications, electrical installations and maintenance, automobile maintenance wood-work construction technologies, fashion designing, ICT and entrepreneurship training, among others.

Its Managing Director, Folahan Olumide, pointed out that the institute was a higher-level vocational training centre. He said: “It is also designed for all categories of persons who are technologically inclined and are willing to embrace digital age whether with senior secondary school certificate or university degree.”

He disclosed that the aim of the institute was to produce younger trainees, who will drive the country’s technology to be at par with its foreign counterparts, while the older trainees also integrated.

The institute engages in more of practical and result-orientated programmes with a three-year standard certified technology course and a six-month to one-year modular certified courses.

Speaking, the institute’s Director of Studies, Tunde Olayode, said: “This is in continuation of our efforts to empower aspiring and existing entrepreneurs to establish, manage and position their own businesses and train others in order to add to value to the society.

“We have trained the first set of 15 graduates from the school in the various fields and they are all doing well.”The participants would benefit from a hands-on training practical session, a post- training support and mentorship, award certificates, as well as network and partner with local and international businesses.
