Konga Game of Codes is a competition organised specially for undergraduate students in tertiary institutions in order to give them a platform to express themselves as they solve real life problems through the use of technology.

The competition, which saw over 350 entries with 78 qualifying teams, produced the top six teams which then competed against one another to show the viability of their solutions in real life problem-solving. At the end of the competition, Team Apollo 11 who are students from the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta won a grand prize of N500, 000 and six months internship with the Tech Team of Konga Online Shopping Limited which boasts of the best developers in the country. The first (1st) runner up, Team Variables who are students from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka also won consolation prizes of Konga vouchers.

According to the Chief Executive Officer of Konga Online Shopping Limited, Shola Adekoya, “Konga’s vision is to be the engine of commerce and trade in Africa. Konga wants to be the engine that drives technological advancement and trade as they affect the African business ecosystem. This informed our decision to give these talents a platform to express themselves in ways that will add value.

We can also state that the finalists should be proud of themselves to have come this far as this shows that they are the best among other talents.”

On why Konga is committed to the discovery of talents through the Konga Game of Codes, Adekoya said Konga is a company that believes in the development of Africa by Africans. “We’re also convinced that the growth of trade will be predicated on technology and this is a major reason why the Konga Game of Codes was conceived. We are getting into an era where traditional forms of shopping will be done away with and technology will be the driver of choice for everyone. This and more are the reasons we are investing in student developers as they, with technology as the driver, are the future of Africa.”

To lend a voice to the development of Africa’s young talents at the competition which is the second edition, Vice President People Engagement, Ikeoluwapo Adebowale also encouraged the finalists to stick to their dreams of adding value to their environments.
