Lottery Commission seeks collaboration with NCC to sanitise industry

The Director-General of the National Lottery Regulatory Commission (NLRC), Adolphus Ekpe, has said that proper collaboration with the Nigerian Communication Commission (NCC) would help in the drive to sanitise and grow the lottery industry for national development

Ekpe stated this when he paid a courtesy call on the Executive Vice Chairman of NCC, Prof Umar Danbatta, in his office.He noted that the lottery commission, in the spirit of nation building and industry development, seek collaboration with the NCC in the areas of effective and efficient implementation of the existing MOU. Ekpe observed that Nigeria is presently faced with economic challenges, inadequate inter-government agency collaboration, economic diversification, hence the need to support the upward growth of internally generated revenue and the blockage of financial leakages within the economy.

The Lottery Commission boss called for development of a framework for implementation of Lottery Short-Code harmonisation as well as the enlargement of the MOU Jointly Implementation Committee to include IT and Business Development officer.

Responding, Danbatta observed that NCC would ensure that the existing MOU between it and the lottery commission is implemented.

He said, ” We pledged our collaboration in fulfillment of inter-agency statutory obligations to Nigerians, NCC shall put in machinery to block all leakages. NCC is committed to enriching the MoUs signed with the Lottery commission. On short code, NCC shall engage all telecom operators to sanitize the system.”
