The Ministry of Science and Technology is partnering with an Israeli company to deploy a security and defence technology that would further help combat the state of insecurity in Nigeria.

To drive home the partnership, Minister of Science and Technology, Dr. Ogbonaya Onu, recently had a meeting with the company representatives in Abuja.

According to the minister, the security solution is to be integrated in Nigeria, and will put into consideration, local factors to be able to combat the peculiar situation in the country.

He also noted that the Israeli company, Eleo Technology and Telecommunications will transfer knowledge and technology to Nigerians, thereby making Nigeria the production hub for Africa.

According to Onu, Nigeria should not be a consuming nation, reason the ministry will continue to support investors who are interested in technology transfer. “The nation will support them”, he said.

Chief Executive Officer of the company, Leo Anderson, told journalists that his company is not interested in importing products for sale in Nigeria, but would rather produce in the country using local content.

He added that not only will the proposed solution contribute to solving the security challenge; it will also constitute an economic tool for wealth creation.
