No fewer than 1200 youths would be trained on data science at the newly established Coven Labs of the Curator University of Data Science in 2018.

The first batch of training over the week in Akure, Ondo State, saw more than 40 youths become data scientists after graduating from the Coven Labs, Curators University of Data Science and AI Bootcamps.

The bootcamp held in Akure attracted participants from Oyo, Osun, Ekiti states, and Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory.

Bootcamps and nano degrees like these are getting common with the emergence of websites like Udacity and Udemy, which are online platforms.

Speaking at the event, the Ondo State Commissioner for Science and Technology, Femi Agagu, appreciated the efforts of the Coven Labs, and the choice of Ondo, particularly Akure, for the training.

He said the move is in line with the Akeredolu-led government’s vision to engage its teeming youth using information technology for self sustainability, reliance and wealth creation.

The Director of Programmes and International Partnerships, Covens Lab, Victor Akangbe Brown, said Curators University is a non-degree awarding technology company, offering cutting edge technology and entrepreneurship education suited for the 21st century industry.

He said to join the Coven Labs Data Science, and AI School, prospective applicants need to pre-register on www.curators.ng/datascience.

Akangbe Brown said the Curators University, founded in 2016, is an American company registered in Delaware, and Nigeria, as Curators Interactive inc.
