Only technology can solve Africa’s problems, says Osinbajo

Nigeria’s vice president, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo said the effective use of technology is pivotal to solving various problems facing Africa.

Osinbajo said this at the Google for Nigeria event in Lagos on Thursday

The vice president, who stressed that Google’s bank of information, holds the key to the future said the answers to Africa said the way technologies deployed will important to the development of the continent.

“Africa is confronted with diverse challenges and we have no time in looking for solutions because they are not available. The answer is technology,” Osinbajo said.

He explained that Africa contributes the least from global warming due to the negligence of technology. Regardless, the continent suffers more.

He noted that Africa will play a “defining role” in the global developments, making “Africa matter for good or ill”

“If Africa fails, it will be a catastrophe, but if Africa succeeds, the whole world will be a better place, because Africa is key to global success,” Osinbajo said.

He urged African leaders to leverage on the population, friendly environment and climate stability in influencing good governance for the people.
