‘Let’s teach peace education in schools’

To promote African history, diverse traditional heritage and cultures, a group known as Historical Africa Cultural Centre (HACC) in the  USA has advocated the teaching of Peace Education from primary school to higher institutions  to manage chaos and disunity, in line with Peace and Justice of Substainable Development Goals.

The theme was: “Seeking an Enduring Peace in Our Continent.”

Executive Director, Leadership Empowerment and Development lnnovation lnitiative Africa, Margaret Chichi Nkire, recounted some recent issues that affected Nigerians, ranging from poverty, corruption,  hunger terrorism, wanton killings,  abduction of school girls, police brutality, elections rigging are unemployment among others.

She urged the  government to  embrace youth empowerment and address the numerous pending issues affecting Nigerians and the economy.

The Chairman, Mr Jide Animashaun,  said that African was endowed with huge human capacities and materials resources  but sadly,’’Africans have not been able to harness them adequately.’’

He urged African leaders and stakeholders to create  peaceful  legacy for their citizens in the continent.
