THE second Playwrights’ Confab that will bring together playwrights from all over the country has been scheduled for the first weekend of March 2015. It will hold at Kwara State University, Malete, Ilorin.

The Confab is a follow-up to the first one convened by Distinguished Professor Femi Osofisan in 2013 at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, which brought together a staggering number of 136 participants, and exposed the enormous amount of work going on in this area, but which was previously unknown. Chief host is the Vice Chancellor of KWASU, Prof AbdulRasheed Na’Allah.

All those interested in attending are advised to reach either abiola-fasoranti @kwasu.edu.ng or [email protected] and copied to [email protected]

Also, a 5-day playwriting workshop is also being planned to precede and lead to the Confab from March 4 – 8. This is exclusively for young and aspiring playwrights, and attendance is therefore totally free-of-charge, including boarding and feeding. Participants are advised to arrive on Sunday March 1 and departure is on March 8.

As a result of limited space workshop participants are to submit a short excerpt, of not more than 2 pages, from a play in English they have written (but not necessarily published) to the same addresses above. Deadline for the submission is February 15, 2015. Those selected for the workshop will be notified latest by February 20, 2015.
