Nenrot Sandra Gopep, a physician and Master of Public Health graduate in Epidemiology from Georgia Southern University, has been inducted into the Delta Omega Honorary Society in Public Health, an elite national organization that recognizes exceptional academic achievement, leadership, and commitment to advancing public health.

Dr. Gopep’s induction into the Gamma Theta Chapter of Delta Omega places her among a select group of emerging public health leaders whose scholarship and service exemplify excellence in the field. Her work bridges medicine, research, and community impact, reflecting a passion for evidence-based approaches to improving health outcomes in underserved populations.

A licensed medical doctor from Nigeria, Gopep has contributed to multiple peer-reviewed publications in high-impact journals including Cureus, Healthcare, and the Virology Journal. Her research spans topics such as cervical cancer screening among older women, the mental health implications of chronic disease, and the dynamics of COVID-19 and monkeypox co-infections. She has also presented her findings at national conferences, including the American Public Health Association (APHA) Annual Meeting.

Beyond academia, Gopep has demonstrated remarkable leadership through her work with the Association for Community Empowerment Solutions in Washington, D.C., where she supports vaccine equity initiatives and health communication strategies. She also served as Chairperson of the Hope Hill Foundation in Abuja, Nigeria, leading community vaccination drives and public health education programs.

Reflecting on the honor, Gopep described the recognition as “a humbling reminder that public health is both science and service.” She added, “My goal has always been to use research not just to generate knowledge but to inform action, especially in communities that are often left behind.”

Now as an emerging public health professional, Gopep remains dedicated to advancing health equity and promoting global health literacy, embodying the Delta Omega Society’s mission to recognize and encourage excellence in public health scholarship and leadership.
