THE alleged continue refusal of the Taraba State government to attend to the plight of the staff of the State owned newspaper, The Nigerian Sunrise, has become a source of worry to the staff and management of the organisation.

For the past six months as observed by The Guardian, the staff members of the organisation have been seeking for ways to survive due to the deliberate refusal of the state government to pay their salaries.

The development, as noted by The Guardian, has not only ignited untold hardship on the staff but has also compelled majority of them to withdraw their children from schools.

In addition, some of them have become bedridden and could not afford the exorbitant fees charged by most of the hospitals operating in the state.

Though the state government always claimed that the state is presently bankrupt, but investigation revealed that the present acting Governor of the State has deliberately refused to pay the staff due to the role the newspaper played in his impeachment saga.

The newspaper it would be recalled exposed the present acting governor’s ill-gotten wealth while he was the deputy governor of the State.
