Kano State Police Command have apprehended Aliyu Madaki of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) over alleged possession of firearm during last Saturday’s presidential and National Assembly elections in the state.

Madaki was declared House of Representatives member-elect to represent the people of Dala Federal Constituency at the Federal House of Representatives.

In a statement, yesterday, the Kano Police Command’s Spokesman, SP Abdullahi Kiyawa, said the Command has invited Madaki for suspected unlawful possession of firearm.
Kiyawa said: “He is currently at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Kano State Police Command, undergoing investigation.

“Accordingly, the CP demonstrated his willingness to tame subversive elements or actors, no matter how highly placed, if they are out to disrupt the peaceful atmosphere in the state, as was the case during the just concluded presidential and National Assembly elections and its aftermath in the state.

“The Command is reiterating its commitment to safeguarding life and property in the state.”
