The Association of Maritime Journalists of Nigeria (AMJON) has honoured the Controller of Tincan Island Command, Comptroller, Dera Nnadi; Apapa Customs, the Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC) and other individuals with the Excellence Performance Award.

The award was presented to them during the association’s yearly conference.

Nnadi was awarded the Most Outstanding Customs Area Controller of the Year, while Apapa Customs was honoured with the Most Outstanding Customs Command in Revenue Generation/Transformation.

The NSC was recognised as the Most Transformed Maritime Agency of the Year.

The conference noted that Nnadi’s exemplary leadership role in promoting discipline, ethical standards, and collaboration with stakeholders has made the command experience unprecedented growth and development.

Among the awardees are two outstanding female practitioners in the industry, Temilade Ogunniyi and Nwaeze Theodora on their laudable contribution to the sector.

The Patron of AMJON, Tony Nwabunike, along with other notable drivers and stakeholders in the maritime sector at the event charted a new course for the association.

According to the outgoing president of the association, Paul Ogbuokiri, while the conference brought together influential voices for collaborative dialogue and development of the maritime industry, the conference was unique as it featured the installation of patrons, matrons, presentation of awards to deserving Nigerians and inauguration of the newly elected executives, led by Kelvin Kagbare, who will lead the association for the next three years.
