Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has called on the new Executive Council of the Lagos State Public Service Club to embrace innovation, inclusivity and a renewed commitment to excellence within the service.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony held at the Club’s premises in Ikeja GRA, Sanwo-Olu described the event as more than a ceremonial handover but a celebration of the enduring legacy of a club that has, since 1979, strengthened the bonds within the Lagos public service.

The governor, represented by the Head of Service, Olabode Agoro, charged the newly elected Executive Council to prioritise innovation and inclusivity in their leadership.

He also encouraged the executives to create platforms for open communication: “Consider instituting regular town hall meetings where every voice can be heard, where every member from the newest recruits to the most seasoned officers feels truly seen and valued.”
Governor Sanwo-Olu reiterated his administration’s commitment to supporting public servants, citing recent welfare enhancements.

“The recently implemented salary increment demonstrates our commitment to your welfare and reflects our dedication to supporting career progression and enhancing job satisfaction,” he said.

He added that by encouraging active participation from all club members, governments alone do not build great institutions, saying: “People do, don’t just maintain a club, but build a legacy.”

In his inaugural address, the newly sworn-in President of the Club, Olukayode Odunuga, expressed his dedication to promoting member welfare and advancing the club’s vision.

“Tonight, as we usher in a new chapter in the history of Lagos State Public Service Club, I reaffirm my pledge to work tirelessly with the executive council and all members to elevate this club to even greater heights,” Odunuga said.

He highlighted achievements already recorded during his first 100 days in office, including the modernisation of club facilities, the deployment of digital platforms for better engagement, and the expansion of recreational and development programmes.

“Our vision is clear: to foster unity, promote social and professional networking, and enhance the overall well-being of our members through innovative initiatives and infrastructural development,” he added.
