Acapella, Kenny Blaq on fire at Benin Glo Laffta Fest

The Flamingo Hall of Best Western Hotel, venue of the wave-making comedy show, witnessed an unprecedented crowd of Glo subscribers who came in their thousands to experience the show which had been the talk of town before the D-day.

The ancient City of Benin came alive on Sunday, when the much expected Glo Laffta Fest comedy show organised by next generation telecoms network, Globacom, arrived the city with the duo of Africa’s best comics, including Nigeria’s fast rising comedians, Acapella and Kenny Blaq.

The Flamingo Hall of Best Western Hotel, venue of the wave-making comedy show, witnessed an unprecedented crowd of Glo subscribers who came in their thousands to experience the show which had been the talk of town before the D-day.

Acapella was the first top comedian on the stage, after the performance of home grown talents and his performance recorded one of the highest levels of excitement witnessed during the show. Using mainly one-liners, punch lines and wise-cracks, he thrilled the audience endlessly.

The performance of Kenny Blaq, an emerging star in the nation’s comedy scene, hit another high note of excitement. Blaq seamlessly combined his jokes with hit songs, a combination that the crowd enjoyed thoroughly and was roundly applauded. Using his sonorous voice to advantage, Blaq’s performance was outstanding all through. He left a lasting impression on the crowd.

Apart from Acapela and Kenny Blaq, the show also paraded other top comedians including Basketmouth, I Go Dye, Bovi, Uganda’s Salvador and Maleke, the Benin-based master of punch lines.

All the comedians at the show put up superlative performances, delighting the Benin crowd with rib–cracking jokes which left the guests reeling in bouts of laughter throughout the duration of the event.

Apart from the jokes, the duo of Basketmouth and I GO Dye used the opportunity to commend Globacom for organising the massive show. They appealed to the guests and Nigerians in general to continue to support the Globacom brand, which they described as the most entertainment-friendly company in Nigeria.

The event which was jointly anchored by Nollywood actress, Mercy Johnson-Okojie and Juliet Ibrahim of Ghollywood  was also attended by Nollywood legends, Richard Mofe-Damijo (RMD), Patience Ozokwor (Mama G) and Kanayo O. Kanayo (KOK) who all got standing ovation from the crowd.

The next edition of the show is slated for Ijebu Ode in Ogun State on Sunday.
