Mental health advocate and founder of the Unveil Mental Health Awareness Foundation, Anthonate Asiegbunam, is set to release her debut book, “A Girl, Her God and Her Mental Health.”

The book, which will be on Amazon on March 30, speaks on the struggles of individuals facing mental health challenges within faith-based and culturally conservative communities.

Asiegbunam said the book is designed to address societal expectations, the stigma and the impact of untreated mental illness.

According to her, faith and mental wellness are not opposing forces but can coexist when there is proper education and open conversation. “The truth is, mental illnesses are as real as it gets, and I‘m not just talking about the emotional parts; I mean the ones that affect the wiring of the brain, the intrusive thoughts that creep in uninvited. I’m talking about the kind of mental illness that no amount of makeup, excellence, or perfection can hide; that kind where people genuinely need help from professionals because it has the power to alter the trajectory of a life. Above all, I believe in God’s mercy; His unconditional love and grace support us through our struggles.

“This book is my way of showing that faith and mental health can coexist, and no one should suffer in silence,” she added.

Through her foundation, She has been actively working to break the silence surrounding mental health, challenging both religious institutions and policymakers to take these concerns seriously.

The launch of A Girl, Her God and Her Mental Health marks another step in her mission to educate, inspire, and transform perspectives on mental wellness and structural change.
