In a quest to promote African food, culture and tourism, Afro Vibe Africa, a tourism, and event company that focuses on providing access to the tourism market in Lagos with a special focus on food has announced the commencement of the Abula Festival billed to hold on November 26th in Lagos.

The festival which had its debut edition in Ibadan last July returns to Lagos at the Good Beach with the aim to celebrate indigenous food in Africa.

According for the founder, Bisilola Bakare, Abula Festival is essentially to promote indigenous food, music, African culture and Tourism by displaying indigenous food, such as Amala and other exciting street foods.

Amala is made from yam tubers peeled, sliced, cleaned, dried, and ground into elubo (yam flour). The meal, which is produced lump-free and fluffy, is best enjoyed with the local soups ewedu, gbegiri, and omiobe (soup), along with chunks of assorted soft meat.

Speaking on the festival, Bisilola Bakare, founder of Afrovibes Africa said that the company look for a creative ways to connect music and fun lovers with the fun they are looking for and also bring together brand that can leverage with the things they do.

“Promoting African culture, the music, the vibes and everything as more to do with kind of person I am, I am drawn to anything that is Africa, it just inspired me and I enjoyed Africa music alot and it reflect in everything that I do,” said Bakare.

“My business is inspired a lot by Africa and because we know that Africa has a lot of potentials especially in our culture, it is very rich, our music is extremely rich and what more if we are not promoting our self.”

Abula festival had the first edition in ibadan last July this year 2022 and we are bringing it to lagos. Initially we were going to do it in Lagos but Abula is from ibadan so we said let’s go home first and then we can come to Lagos.

“In ibadan despite the rain, we had a turn out of almost 700 people but we are hoping to double the number or triple it in Lagos because there is this acceptance Abula has enjoyed more then any other meal. Abula Festival is sponsored byGoldberg, Devon King’s oil, Maggi and the Good Beach.”

“when we did the first edition, people were sending messages to Know when we are bringing it to Lagos. People love this meal particularly and it’s not just food , there is music and culture. So aside from enjoying the meal, they can also have fun.”
