Meet Besong Williams Obi, producer, record label CEO, making change in music industry’
The world may be filled with many talented beings from across different sectors and industries, but there are few that always stood out from others.
Their success can be attributed to their relentless drive and dedication and their zeal to achieve tremendous feat in the industry.
Besong Williams Obi famously known as Double6ix is the music label owner of D6R Entertainment, one of the few doing exactly this in the ever evolving the world of entertainment.
Born in Nsadop a small village in Boki Local Government Area of Cross River state, he moved to Lagos where he had his early education. He attended Early Years Exclusive Primary school before proceeding to Mayflower where his love of music started.
He was the social director for his school hostel at the stage. Coming out from secondary school, he went straight into learning music production in studios at Agric Ikorodu as he geared to master his craft.
An Alumnus of the Lagos state polytechnic, his love for tourism has taken him across a few African countries where he has gone to meet colleagues in the entertainment industry. The music producer is a lover of nature, a quiet political ideologist who believes so much in Pan Africa.
He stated that music and travelling keeps him on check at all the time.
During his productions days he came across many talents in the city of Ikorodu who later became known super stars in the industry.
In 2017, he made his first move to sign an artiste, but could not due to the financial difficulties involved. But in 2019, he finally started his own label and signed his first artiste, SAUCEE.
A year later, he signed T Dollar who has become a force in the industry.
In an interview with him, he said: “My aim I to take this record label to a a height that nobody would ever expect. I would love to take my artistes to world stage to become the best of themselves. I groom talents and that’s what gives me joy.
“Today , my label , D6R Entertainment currently ha four artistes who are doing well. They are T Dollar, SAUCEE, LONGTYM, and SOFTI. They inspired me to take the label to a globally recognised world Entertainment outfit,” he concluded.
