Fifty eight posts litter Rhythim’s Instagram account. A large stripe of the content revolves around music: stage performances, recording in studios, single arts, and so on.

A poignant one caught my attention while writing this article. Uploaded in the month of April in 2022, Rhythim swings his body as the sound engineer puts finishing touches to “On Me,” which features veteran Afrobeats legend, YQ.

Rhythim, the United State based but Nigeria raised singer, songwriter, and record label boss is one of the artiste elevating the Afrobeats movement with his frequent songs release, performances at selected parties and concerts in the United State.

Samson Edwin, relocated from Nigeria more than five years ago, nonetheless, his love for the country hangs around. From the tilting of his three projects, to the song titles, messages, use of pop culture, and constricted slang, there is no doubt that Rhythim’s soul is Nigeria while his body is ensconced in US.

Rhythim has churned out three extended plays so far in his budding career. His most recent release “Jollof & Afrobeats,” pays homage to two popular cultural exports in Nigeria: Jollof Rice and Afrobeats. The three-track project sees Rhythim flitting between love and party: two dominant topics in the Afrobeats genre.

His remarkable pen game is one of the edges that attract Rhythim to his fans: his ability to vividly paint pictures and his lofty ability to create melodies are difficult to ignore

With 2023 gradually reaching the second quarter, it remains to be seen what Rhythim has in stock for the fans. Although the fans eagerly await his traditional EP release, perhaps, they might finally get the elusive debut studio album.
